Thank you for your interest in the Grand Rapids Curling Club Adopt-a-Rock program. We invite you to be part of a special opportunity to support the Grand Rapids Curling Club! For a gift of $500, $800, or $1,000 you can “adopt” one or more curling rocks by sponsoring a message on the handle of each rock. This is a wonderful way for members, friends, organizations, or businesses to financially support the club and be recognized by curlers on-ice every time the rock is thrown.
The Grand Rapids Curling Club has 3 sheets of ice and 16 rocks are used on each sheet. A total of 48 rock handles are available on a first-come first-serve basis. Each rock weighs 44 pounds and is fitted with detachable handle which can be inscribed with a personal or memorial message.
If you are interested in adopting your own rock with our club, please review the information below.
A one-time donation lets you adopt 1 or more rocks. If you are interested in adopting more than 3 rocks, please CONTACT US.
- $500 - One Rock
- $800 - Two Rocks
- $1,000 - Three Rocks
All Adopt-a-Rock donations are non-refundable once inscription is completed. Grand Rapids Curling Club is a non-profit organization so every donation is tax-deductible.
Selection of a rock handle is on a first-come first-serve basis. Choices include the handle color (red or yellow), sheet, and rock number (16 rocks per sheet). To see which rocks are currently available for adoption, you can CHECK AVAILABILITY.
Up to 2 lines of 18 characters each are available per rock handle. Inscription content is subject to approval by GRCC board and may be denied or modifications requested. Inscription style is at the discretion of the Grand Rapids Curling Club.
We will schedule and complete the inscription as soon as possible, which may be delayed until the off-season when the rocks are not in use, or until newly purchased rocks arrive in our possession.
Adoption is guaranteed for the life-span of the rock, which varies but is usually in the range of 10 - 20 years. Once the rock handle is replaced, the club will have the sponsored handle mounted on a plaque and displayed at the club. If a handle breaks through normal wear and tear, it and its inscription will be replaced at no charge to the rock sponsor.
